Lucy turns 3!

So Lucy turned 3 just a couple weeks ago, and she has turned into a little ball of fire.

She spends her days telling us to stop talking, the dogs are her best friends, and when we ask her to do something, her response now is, "one second."

When did she turn 13?? Hello! I should have 10 more years to work up to this.

Anyway, this one is going to be kinda short. There was some recent activity in the comments section of this blog that is forcing me to make it private.

So I will leave it open for another week so everyone gets a chance to read this. You will have to email me to let me know that you want to see updates, and I will send you a request to read the blog. I am sorry it has come to this, but for the safety of the family, we must!

Hey everyone,

It was a sad day today because my phone crashed and I lost all my contacts. I now have a bunch of emails hanging out without names attached to who they belong to. I have also lost everyone's phone numbers and addresses. I was able to save some, but unfortunately some will be forever lost. ::sniff sniff::

Where did my baby go?

Lucy is like a real person these days. She makes decisions and has an opinion, and she is working things out on her own. Listen to what she did two days ago.

We are working at getting her potty trained at night. So two nights ago, Matt got her dressed for bed. I checked to see if she was in a pull up or panties, and she was infact in panties. We put her to bed, and then we went to the bed. Around 4 am, Lucy came into our room and said "Mommy, I'm *really* tired" and she crawled into bed with us and we all went back to sleep. When we all woke up to get dressed, I noticed that Lucy didn't have panties on, only her sleep pants. I thought this was really really weird, but paid no mind.

Fast forward to last night, and we were in her room picking up her toys so that we could get Jade's bed set up because she was spending the night. I looked over to Lucy's bed, and notice her jammie pants and her undies in her bed from the night before. And they were peed on. I also noticed that her sheet was stained. Turns out, she had wet the bed the night before, crawled out of bed, changed her pee pants, and then came into bed with us because her bed was wet.

And turns out....my kid's a genius.

When did we get a human? It's like last Wednesday she was a baby, and now she's like ready for college. Seriously....not fair.

So I know it's been forever since I updated. I suck as a blogging mom what can I say :)

So many things have happened since September. Lucy has started talking way more. Even though you can't understand most of it, she just won't stop. She is known to walk around the house "mumble mumble mumble, No Daddy, bad!" or "mom, go away!"

She can count to 10 in both English and Spanish. She also wants to help me cook all the time, and when daddy gets home she says, daddy I cook!

Tonight was by far one of my favorite evenings that we have had in a while. She stripped down all by herself, and then came into the kitchen, turned around and said "mom, my butt! I shake butt!" and she proceeded to shake her butt.

Also tonight she was sitting at the kitchen table and there was a picture of Santa. She studied it, and then said, "Santa brings presents. Thank you Santa"

She is getting huge. HUGE! And she is so much fun!!

A quick trip to Michigan

We took a quick trip to Michigan over the weekend for a wedding. Lucy had a blast as did we. Again there was a ton of pictures so I am including a link to my facebook so you can see them all there. Pictures are going to be at a minimum for a few weeks because on our flight home, I don't know if my purse got stepped on my Lucy or if I dropped it or what, but the screen on my camera cracked so I had to take it to Best Buy for service. I will remind everyone, this will be my freaking third camera this year. My first one just stopped turning on, the second one dropped in Lucy's swimming pool, and this one the screen broke. Thank goodness for warranties :)

Disneyland!

Here are some of the pictures from Disneyland. Lucy had such a great time. The first ride she was pretty impatient about waiting, but then she got the hang of it, because as everyone knows, you have to wait in line to get in line at Disneyland. She lasted from 730 am until 1030 pm with a 30 minute nap.

We were so excited that she had such a great time. We literally cannot wait to take her back, well except for how freaking expensive that place is.

Quick household vent....

One of our wedding gifts was a Hoover Floormate floor cleaner. This machine has become my best friend. It cleans everything and I love it. It does dry vac and wet vac and also cleans the tile. My. Favorite. Machine. Ever.

Recently I ran out of the formula that it needs as the cleaner. I went to Bed Bath and Beyond where they sell it to purchase another bottle. Well they were out. Completely out. And they are discontinuing the Floormate. ::Sob::

So I talk to the store manager who was able to special order me three extra bottles of the cleaner. So I decided to go on rations, only really using the cleaner when really necessary. And just spot cleaning the floor all the rest of the time.

Since my cleaner solution showed up at my door, our dogs have peed on the floor almost every day while we are at work. EVERY DAY people. This means I have had to use my floor cleaner 5 times more than I ever did before.

These rations are not going to last long. I might have to write a letter to Hoover telling them that I hate them now for discontinuing their product.

So that is all. I must now return to cleaning the floors.....again.

Wanna know how to keep a two year old busy for an hour, almost completely silent also? Take said two year old to The Artful Potter. Lucy painted this dragon for her daddy for Father's Day. She was concentrating sooooo hard on this dragon. But here you go, the best dragon ever.

I know I am a terrible blogger recently, and for that I apologize.

A super quick update, and next time I promise to post pictures!!!

Lucy is a talking machine these days. She got mad at something I did two weeks ago and she said to me "Hay, not nice" And then when she was going potty she kicked me out of the bathroom saying "Go! NOW!" She is quite demanding.

Oh yea, and yes, she was going potty.....she is fully potty trained. She still gets diapers for naps and nighttime, but I think we are pretty close to her not even needing that. She is very proud of herself too for being potty trained.

So this is the quick version. I will update better this weekend. I promise!

She does this thing where she falls on me and I do this thing where I push her away, and she just thinks it's the funniest thing ever in the whole wide world. Anyway, she got so excited that night, and was laughing so hard, there at the end where I say "Oh, gross" and cut off the video, it was because Lucy puked on me.

Almost every weekend we have either breakfast or lunch with our friends the Leals. They have two little girls that are 4 and 18 months old. All the girls have so much fun hanging out and playing with each other. Today, we met them for brunch at the District at Green Valley Ranch.

Afterward, we walked around the District so Lucy could burn off some steam before her nap time. She had a real good time until the very very end when she realized just how tired she was and she had a meltdown in the middle of the District. But she napped for 3.5 hours and was just as crabby when she woke up as she was when she went down for her nap.

Lucy has been doing great with her speak and conversations. Usually I am the only one that can understand her, but that's ok. She is doing better with her colors too. Not everything is blue, but a lot still is. She also can say her ABC's to I. She refuses to count. She will say two, but will not count. But we will just keep up the practice.

A weekend of many many things!

So this weekend was a big weekend for Lucy! Friday night we went to movies in the park at The District by Green Valley Ranch and watched Bolt. Bolt is her favorite movie of all time, and it was so much fun to watch it outdoors. The "theater" they have is all outdoors and you sit on the grass (unless you bring blankets like we did). They also give you FREE POPCORN....Hello! That sells me right there. And the movie is free, so it is right up our alley! Tons of fun if you want something to do on a Friday or Saturday night.

Next on Saturday, we worked out in the garden. You will have to go to my garden blog to see the pictures of all our flowers and veggies. Here is the link to that blog. We bought flowers of all different colors on Saturday to work with Lucy on her colors. Her favorite one is blue or "bu" as she calls it. However she said, pink, purple, red, green, and orange.

Also on Saturday, Lucy joined the ranks of the fine toddlers that go poopy in the potty. She sat on the pot, told me to go, so I handed her a SpongeBob (or Bob Bob) book and she sat and read while she pooped. When she was done, she said bye bye and flushed the toilet. It was great! Now if she will only do this on a regular basis, it will be even more incredible!

If you see below in the pictures, you will see the surprise that we got Lucy too. In Matt and my quest for a work out regime and weight loss we decided to start riding out bikes, so we got a seat so Lucy can ride along with us. So far, she is pretty indifferent about it, but I think when she gets used to it, she will like it better.

Oh the things that Lucy says these days, I swear. The day after Lucy's birthday, she had a Nevada Interventions appointment and they asked how many words she says. Well we started counting and I got up to just over 50 words. Well since then, she has increased that by I am sure another 50 words. My favorite thing she says is "dunno" She said it perfect the other day, I said Lucy, where's daddy and she shrugged her shoulders and said dunno. It was really cute.

She is just getting so freaking cute and she is so smart. I also feel like a translator because no can seem to understand what she says except me. But she is beginning to be so much fun. I just love her. And I think I will keep her for a little longer :)

An update, Easter and a 2nd Birthday!

Tons of pictures here, but are all backwards lol They go from Easter to the day before which was Lucy's bday party. So many things have happened in the past couple of weeks. Lucy says "I love you" now but it sounds more like "Wuv wo" She also say "Uh oh" and "dunno" Lately her favorite movie has been Kung Fu Panda, she also does this super freaking cute thing where she puts her hands together like she is going to pray, waits for you to do it back and then she bows her head in respect. She did this totally on her own, as well and turning around to Matt the other day and said "Hiya!" and karate chopped him.

Her vocabulary has doubled I think in like a weeks time. And she is so into things lately. She knows exactly what she wants, for example, when she wants to go in the office with daddy and watch a movie, she will point to the door and say "dada" but if you pick her up and point in the opposite direction of the office and say "you want to go over there" she will say "no" and then point to the office again. We play this game often. We point in every direction except for the one in which she wants and wait for her to say no.

She is just getting to be so much fun!!!!

I haven't put much thought into her birthday party yet. I know I know, I am a terrible mom. But I am going to be working on it this weekend. With everything that was going on with the pregnancy, then the loss, and then the surgery, we also lost Lucy's great grandpa Jack to cancer. February has been a super super rough month, and I am thankful that it is over. :)

Lucy has really be amazing through everything. I mean, what could you expect from an almost two year old? There are many discipline issues we are dealing with currently, but again, she is almost two. She is just a little velociraptor testing the fence each day.

Well, there is much to update, I hope you're sitting down

A few weeks ago, we found out I was pregnant. We were so very excited and made the huge announcement to everyone. A week later, I started bleeding, and I was told I was having a miscarriage. I didn't want to post on here that I had a miscarriage, especially right after we found out because we were so upset, I just needed time.

On Thursday, a week after I thought I was having a miscarriage, I started to suffer from terrible pains on my right side. I went to the ER and it turns out, I wasn't miscarrying after all. I was still pregnant, but it was a tubal, or ectopic, pregnancy. I was rushed to the OR for emergency surgery. They were not able to save my tube, so they removed my right fallopian tube, and a bunch of blood since the tube had ruptured.

I am doing better now, just healing. Matt has been an incredible help though all this.

So for the time being, Lucy will not be a big sister. We are waiting to hear what the doctor says about us being able to have more kids, but for now, Lucy gets to stay spoiled :)

Lucy has started daycare!!

Lucy's first day of day care was Tuesday. She seemed to really like it and barely said bye to me when I dropped her off. I got a call later that day around 3:15 that she had a fever of 102 and that I needed to come and get her. So I had to leave work early to get her. I got there and she was acting like she wasn't feeling well, but I also knew she was teething.

We get home and she was fine, like I figured, but daycare has a policy that they cannot come back for 24 hours after they have a fever. So Wednesday, she went back to her great grandparents house. Her fever was really bad that day, so I kept her out of daycare on Thursday too. She FINALLY cut her bottom eye tooth, and so I took her to daycare on Friday. She again had a pretty good time, and didn't want to say bye to me.

When I went to pick her up she had been moved to the baby room, they said she just needed a change of scenery. I can image how difficult it is for her sometimes, going from only playing by herself to all of a sudden being thrown into a room with 10 other screaming 1 year olds.

Anyway, I noticed this morning that she had a bruise on her arm, in the shape of teeth marks. So now on Monday, I have to go there and talk to them about someone biting my kid. I was very upset this morning about it, but now I feel a little better because I am sure with 11 kids in the room, not all incidents will be caught. And so I am sure that since Lucy can't talk, she was bit, got very upset and when the teachers didn't know what was wrong, thought she needed a change of scenery. Which in the long and the short of it, was the best thing, because the kids in the baby room don't have any teeth yet :P

Anyway, I know that the transition to daycare is going to be a rough one for all parties involved, and only time will make it easier for all of us. I still really like the place she is going, and as an added addition, they offer coffee to the parents, and it's pretty tasty :)

My little social butterfly

Matt and I are currently looking for a daycare for Lucy. I went and interviewed one yesterday and it was right around their lunch time. Lucy insisted that I put her down, and then started to play with the other kids. Once she saw that most of them were sitting waiting for food, she found a chair sat at the table and patiently waited for her plate too. The teachers were nice enough to give her a plate too even though she is not a student yet.

After lunch the class was setting up for nap time. Lucy highjacked a little girls cot and crawled into it laid down and pretended to go to sleep. The little girl just stood there not knowing what to do that this crazy Lucy girl stole her bed.

She didn't notice at all that I left the room to talk with the director about prices. She got terribly upset when it was time to go.

I don't think this transition will be difficult at all. She seems more than ready to start school, and start making new friends. I really cannot wait!

Oh the days are rushing by!!

Time stood still until I had a child, and since then, I swear I have no idea where the time has gone. Lucy has grown about three inches, and like every woman, she is constantly between sizes. Her head is too big to fit into the neck of a 24 month old shirt, but the 2T shirts fit her too long, she is too tall for 24 month pants, but 2T are too long. Plus, she doesn't have much of a butt, so none of her pants regardless of what size will stay where they belong. Sadly, this is a trend that will follow her for her whole life, she will, like all women, constantly be in between sizes.

Recently Lucy has learned what her secret weapon is. When she is in trouble, or knows she has done something bad, she will come give you a hug and a huge MUUUUAH! It's very sweet. But here is the kicker, when she knows that she is in trouble or if you are mad at her, she will attempt to do this, if you are looking the other way trying not to laugh, she will put her hands on your cheeks and make you look at her, then she will smile her goofy smile and MUUUUAH! she is no longer in trouble.

Today, I went in to check on her when she was supposed to be napping, and found that she was stuffing a diaper between her crib and the wall. I thought to myself, how did she get a diaper?? and then I remembered I put her to nap with no pants on, and when I walked over to her, she was diaperless. Thank the dear Lord above that it was a dry diaper. I might have died if it was not.

Most of what Lucy says now is still very much babble. She would rather grab your hand and drag you across the room and let you pick out what it is she wants by a series of head shaking and snickers than actually tell you what she wants. But today, I was so excited because she reached for my glass of water and said "juice?" This is normal, everything is juice, but when I asked her if she wanted some of my water, she say "wah wah". And she kept saying it after each drink. I can no longer drink that water because she backwashes something terrible, but I was very excited that she learned to say water!

If you ask her a questions, like "Lucy would you like a pony for Christmas" her answer is "no" If you ask her if she wants the biggest bowl of ice cream ever, her answer is no. She will say no even if she means yes, so we have been trying to differentiate between what no means yes and what no means no. It's all guess work here.

She also knows where her bottle and milk are. Any time she wants a bottle, she will run to the fridge and pull on the door wining "bo-dle, bo-dle"

And on that note, she is at the fridge now, so I must go tend to my minion duties.

I am relieved. I am scared. And I am nervous.

Lucy had her year assessment with Nevada Early Interventions. They found that she is on target with everything, and ahead on other things. She is doing great. Absolutely fabulous. Our afternoon appointment went even better. I spoke with our vision specialist and she, too, said that everything was great.

Our vision specialist said that she heard of a medical study going on at the UCLA children's hospital in CA. The top guys and the head medical professionals for ONH are doing a five year study. They will give free medical treatments for the entire time the study is going on, basically just eye exams, but Lucy might qualify for it.

So Matt and I are going to call the contact that is doing the scheduling tomorrow and see if we can get Lucy to qualify. If she can, you have no idea how wonderful this will be. Not only will we be getting the absolute BEST care we can for five years by all the TOP medical professionals that specialize in her condition, she will also help in very important studies about her condition.

The feeling I have now is so indescribable, I am just so fortunate to have such a wonderful support system, and also wonderful resources. ONH might not be correctable now, but maybe in a few years, they might find ways of making mild corrections, or major corrections, I don't know, but I hope we can help in whatever way we can.

Lucy has her year follow up appointment with Nevada Early Interventions tomorrow. They will do her assessment and make sure that she is on track as she should be. We aren't really worried about it either way, but since we use their services, we must follow up with the whole nine yards.

Lucy's new favorite movies are Annie and Wizard of Oz. She LOVES movies that have music, singing and dancing.

Her latest tricks include pushing the gate open to let the dogs out and they she runs away from them laughing. If they don't follow her, she will turn around and yell at them. She also takes her chalk and marks every. piece. of furniture. in the entire house. Since we got the back yard done, we can't keep her in the house. She goes straight to the garden and takes the river rock out of garden and lines it up on the brick wall. She also likes to run under the hose when I am watering.

When Lucy is done eating on a plate, she will dump her food onto her high chair and then hand you the plate and say "Done, done" She now says monkey, a full Bye, nose, and Hey!

And last but not least, she now sleeps in a big girl bed. Her crib converts from a crib to a toddler bed, then to a twin. A week ago we took the side off and shes been doing great in her new little bed. She loves it!!!!

She says, Three, Gone, Dog (this time with a "d" usually she would say god), and she now waves when she says hi.

Its so crazy because the first year of Lucy's life was so stressful. It was hectic, full of doctors appointments, and was really unknowing. It has been so wonderful to have been able to let go of all those stresses, and really get to start to relax a little.

She's running, she's talking and she is interacting on the most amazing levels. She is really starting to understand what we are saying to her and is starting to show that she can too, this is a little tool that she probably should have waited to show us....gasp...she understands us and sometimes listens!!!

It is just incredible how fast they grow but just how amazing it is to watch the transformation.

Oh yea, and Lucy is now officially 17 months old. wow.

Lucy is getting huge, if you can't tell. She's running around, and we have been known to call her the little tornado. Shes sleeping almost all night long, in her own room now for a few months! She now has about a 10 word vocabulary, she says on a frequent basis now:

Ok its hard to get a toddler to sit down and blog these days. Before she was mobile it was easier because she just sat around, but now shes walking everywhere so well, blogging isn't as easy.

So Lucy has three molars now. Yes three. And she just got another front tooth, making it a total of 10 teeth. Its awesome! Shes also walking and running everywhere. Shes got some new words:
Mama, dada, juice, go, hi, bye, hello, and shoes.

Her new favorite toy is my very first cabbage patch doll, Alberta. She carries it around like her little baby, its very cute. She is also sleeping in her own room, all night long.

Other than that, we haven't had to go to any more follow up appointments recently so, no news is good news.

So things are so exciting

Lucy has started walking and its so cute because shes so timid about it. She has also decided that Enchanted is her favorite movie. She sits on the couch with me with her hand on my arm, and when the squirrel gets upset she stands up and puts her hand on my shoulder lol.

Anyway, Matt graduated and it was a great ceremony.

This weekend we are going to visit Lucy's great grandparents in Arizona and her cousin Jade is coming with us. And the following week we are going to San Fransisco for a week for a computer conference for Matt. I can't wait because I get to eat all the clam chowder in bread bowls I can eat!

Anyway, that is our little update.

Matt graduated! He is now the proud new owner of a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science.
Lucy also started walking this week! And she has 5 teeth now! It has been quiet the week!!!!!!

Ok sorry to those that checked last night but I just flat out forgot to post.

Lucy had a drs appointment on Wednesday for the ophthalmologist. The checked her eyes again, and her vision has significantly improved in her left eye. The dr thinks that she is only slightly near sighted in her left eye now, not partially blind at all!!!

Now her right eye she thinks shes only got light sensitivity and can't really say for sure what she is seeing in that eye, but she thinks shes seeing something.

The dr is keeping her labeled legally blind, however, this is a vast improvement from our first initial visits.

and that my friends is our super huge great news!

Tooth #3!!!!!

It has been two months in the making, but we finally have it! Her first top tooth!

The teething process for this one tooth, has been the most awful thing ever, but WE HAVE IT!

YAY!!!!!!!

I know that I still owe everyone videos of Lucy, and they are coming, I promise!

A note from Mommy

Hey everyone! Lucy doesn't have her touch typing down just yet so its faster if I write to update. Lucy is doing great these days!! She said "Hi" today and waved. And it was a pretty obvious hi. She is also crawling up a storm. We almost have a third tooth, and I swear this tooth is going to be the end of me. Its been the WORST drooling, fussiness, crying whatever, it sucks.

One of Lucy's gifts from Christmas was a drum that sings. It was from my co-worker and it has quickly become her favorite toy. Needless to say, the song it sings is ALWAYS stuck in my head. I will be posting a video of her playing it either later tonight or tomorrow.

Lucy had to get her first hair cut tonight. Her "bangs" were getting just a tad too long and she kept rubbing her eyes all the time because the hair getting in them. I cut them, so you know, they look just ridiculous.

Matt's birthday was on the 1st, we didn't have huge plans but we went out to eat and Lucy and I took him to the bookstore, which is, if you don't already know, Matt's playground in heaven.

Its crazy how fast this little girl is growing up. She is almost walking and keeps trying to stand on her own. Its hard to wrap my head around the fact that she will be a year old in just under two months.

The list of things she can do:
Give slobbery kisses
Knows where her nose is, and where your nose is
Knows where your teeth are
Says Hi and waves
Waves her hand back and forth when she is stinky
LOVES to play with the dogs and says "Das Das" when she is around them
Drinks perfectly from a straw sippy
Dances and sings to her drum

and that is it for now I think!

I am crawling all over the place these days, and my new favorite game is to have mommy chase me all over the house!

Mommy just made me some really nice shirt/dresses. You will have to look at the pics below to really check them out. No new teeth yet. But I smile when you bring the camera out!

Lucy's first Christmas!

Yes, I got cat toys for Christmas, but see, they are the perfect size for my little hands and they make noise. I love them!
I also got some very cute clothes, a couple dolls, and some other great toys! I am sure mommy will upload more pictures later.
Oh and I crawl now.....everywhere!!

8 Months already

As of the first I was 8 months old. Since then this is what I have been up too:
I cut a tooth but I won't let mommy take a picture
I started clapping
I can pull myself up to a standing position
I can crawl

I have been very busy. I also did a walk for blind awareness. It really wore me out. Sitting in the stroller for so long is really exhausting.

I am getting excited for Christmas too! There are already presents under the tree, I wonder how many are for me? Oh and I didn't like the Christmas tree too much at first. But now I really like the lights. I hope everyone has a great Christmas!!!

Mommy says tomorrow is the big day! We leave to Michigan for Thanksgiving!
I get to meet my grandma Ann and grandpa Toner for the first time!

I heard there was going to be snow, so I am sure mommy is going to come home with tons of super cute pictures of me in the snow. I don't know what snow is yet, but mommy says its cold....whatever that means :)

Holy moly I am almost 6 months old

Hi everyone, baby cronicles are back and with a vengence. Now if I was only old enough to know what a "vengence" meant.

Since I turned 4 months old so much as happened. I started solids. Oatmeal hurt my tummy, and make me poop alot, so mommy switched me to rice cereal. I loved it. What I loved even more, was when they mixed in bananas and green beans (but not together).

I had to go in for an MRI a couple weeks ago. I didn't like it. Mommy said she isn't going to do that to me again until I am much older. (And that is why I love her).

We had two of our three follow up appoitments for my MRI this week. The first was the endocrinologist. He said that everything was fine except that I am blind in my right eye. The second appointment was on Wednesday for my ophthalmologist and guess what, she too said that everything was fine, except that I am blind in my right eye. The fitted me for new glasses, the first pair we got were too big. Mommy said we are going to get them on Wednesday. (we will post pictures then.)

I rolled over too. It was fun, and took me by surprise because I was laying on my back and then all of a sudden I was on my tummy, and I didn't really know what had happened. But it was fun, and I do it a lot for mommy now.

Mommy said that she will post pictures of me later this weekend. I took some super cute ones for my 5 months, but hey, when it comes to me, all pictures are cute right? Thank you for visiting me again, and I promise to try and blog more :)
